Mumford & Sons’s Babel earned a Grammy for Album of the Year on Sunday night, trumping offerings by Frank Ocean, the Black Keys, Jack White and Fun. Unsurprisingly, the folk rockers also saw a spike in sales–their song “I Will Wait” clocked a 394% increase.

The numbers, measured by digital media outfit 7Digital, reflected the change in the rate of downloads in the 24 hours surrounding the Grammys as compared with the average of each of the seven previous days.

Other top gainers among songs included the Black Keys’ “Lonely Boy” (+367%), Bob Marley and the Wailers’ “Could You Be Loved” (also +367%) and Miguel’s “Adorn” (+353%). Artists that saw the biggest gains across the board included Dierks Bentley (+294%), Elton John (+282%) and Carrie Underwood (+194%).

But the social sphere tells a different story.

According to a report by music data purveyor Next Big Sound, the big winner was Bruno Mars. He was nominated only as a featured artist (for “Young, Wild & Free,” with Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg) and didn’t get the nod. Yet, thanks to a tremendously well-received performance, he added 100,000 Twitter followers, 125,000 Wikipedia pageviews and 1.7 million Vevo video views in the two days around the Grammys.

As compared to the previous two days, that amounted to bumps of 40%, 15% and 133%, respectively–the best performance of any nominee or performer tracked by Next Big Sound. Mars added more Twitter followers in those two days than The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, Fun. and Gotye combined.

Bruno Mars may not have reached his stated goal of becoming a billionaire, but with numbers like these, he’s certainly heading in the right direction.
